Mariette is a client-centered, solution-focused therapist who has worked for close to three decades with individuals, and/or with individuals and their partners who are seeking to resolve problems and conflicts, to deal with losses, life stress and life crises. She supports, facilitates and guides her clients as they explore options during significant life transitions or major change and as they learn to cope more effectively with major illness, injury or disability, or as they seek to enhance their personal relationships or improve and practice better communications with their loved ones, friends, colleagues and acquaintances. Mariette has extensive cross-cultural expertise & sensitivity and has travelled & worked in other countries and continents including Africa, Australia, South America, Central America and Asia. She is skilled and experienced in working with couples who are in conflict, separating, divorcing or seeking to improve, reconcile and/or heal their relationships, and with adult families who are grieving or seeking to cope with a history of loss, abuse, tragedy, or life crises, past or current. She works with both heterosexual and gay/lesbian couples and with various age groups, including young adults, adults and seniors. Mariette is a strong and talented advocate with a very broad range of skills. She will provide support for individuals and/or their families who are involved in or affected by the medical/legal process, for the victims of violence and/or major trauma, and for those who have been sexually, physically or emotionally abused, or those who have been tortured in prison or elsewhere. Mariette is both a Registered Nurse and a Registered Clinical Counsellor and also teaches Canadian and foreign-educated nurses, assisting them with their preparations for the CRNE (CANADIAN REGISTERED NURSE EXAM), the SEC, and with the NCLEX. Tutorials are provided on the UBC campus, on a one-to-one basis, or in small groups of not more than 5 nurses, or for those who live elsewhere in the province or elsewhere in Canada, or abroad, distance education options are available. A program description will be provided by email, or don't hesitate to call. |
